چکیده

The myocardial performance index (Tei index) determined by the pulsed Doppler is a simple and noninvasive measurement for assessing global left ventricular (LV) function. This index can also be obtained by tissue Doppler imaging (Tei-TDI). The purpose of our study was to assess the relationship between Tei-TDI and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP) levels in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Conventional echocardiography and TDI were performed simultaneously with NTproBNP in 50 consecutive patients with DCM, in sinus rhythm. We demonstrated the best linear correlation between Tei-TDI and NTproBNP. The optimal Tei-TDI cut-off for prediction of NTproBNP levels >900 pg/ml was 0.66 (sensitivity of 73% and specificity of 71%). Tei-TDI had a good accuracy to predict high NTproBNP levels and could be used for the global echocardiographic estimation of the LV function in patients with DCM.

Background: Estimation of Left Ventricular End Diastolic Pressure (LVEDP) among patients with Mitral Stenosis (MS) helps to diagnose diastolic dysfunction and to explain their symptoms. However, Conventional Doppler measurements have limitation in predicting of LVEDP. This study sought to establish whether the correlation between measurements derived from Tissue Doppler echocardiography and LVE...

The Effect of Bronchial Asthma on Interatrial Electromechanical Delay Coupling Obtained Using Tissue Doppler Imaging

Background: Asthma is a predisposing factor for the development of atrial fibrillation. Asthma disturbs the electrophysiology in the right and left atrium. The aim of this study was to evaluate atrial electromechanical delay by coupling obtained from tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 50 patients with Bronchial Asthma, compared with 50 hea...

Evaluation of therelationship between epicardial adipose tissue and myocardial performance (Tei) index.

AIM Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a tissue around the heart with visceral adipose properties. It can affect the structure and functions of the myocardium and coronary arteries through inflammatory markers and regulators. The myocardial performance (Tei) index is a parameter capable of globally assessing systolic and diastolic heart functions. This study investigated the relation between EA...

Utility of right ventricular Tei index in the noninvasive evaluation of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension before and after pulmonary thromboendarterectomy.

OBJECTIVES We evaluated the utility of tissue Doppler-derived right ventricular (RV) Tei (or myocardial performance) index in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) before and after pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) and assessed correlations with mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP), pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), and cardiac output (CO). BACKGROUND The...

Evaluation of tissue doppler echocardiography and T2* magnetic resonance imaging in iron load of patients with thalassemia major

Background: Iron-mediated cardiomyopathy is the main complication of thalassemia major (TM) patients. Therefore, there is an important clinical need in the early diagnosis and risk stratification of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of tissue doppler imaging (TDI) to study cardiac iron overload in patients with TM using T2* magnetic resonance (MR) as the gold-standard...
